We’re excited to announce that all Douglas Middle School students will be participating in Mini Courses during the week of November 3–6 (Monday–Thursday). Please note: there will be no school on Friday, November 7.
During this special week, DMS will follow an alternative bell schedule to accommodate the unique structure of Mini Courses.
What are Mini Courses?
Mini Courses are offered twice each school year and are designed to:
Expand students’ experiences
Explore areas of personal interest
Encourage hobbies and new passions
Provide opportunities that may not be available in the regular curriculum
This is a great chance for students to try something new, connect with peers, and engage in learning in a fun and meaningful way!
We’re looking forward to a week full of discovery and excitement!

🚨 Safety Drill Notification – Douglas Middle School 🚨
On Thursday, October 23, 2025, following the early student release, there will be a safety training drill conducted on the Douglas Middle School campus.

To keep the day fun, safe, and focused on learning, please follow these costume expectations:
🚫 Not Allowed:
Blow-up/inflatable costumes
Weapons of any kind (real or fake)
Face paint or masks
Blood or gore
Costumes must follow the DMS dress code and be school-appropriate. Students should be able to participate fully in all classes and activities while in costume.
Thank you for helping us create a safe and festive environment for all students!

Douglas Middle School offers a variety of clubs designed to help students explore their interests, build new skills, and connect with peers in a positive environment. Joining a club is a great way for students to enrich their school experience beyond the classroom!
From community service projects and art to robotics, academic competitions, and music, there’s something for everyone. Please review the attached flier for details on each club and how to get involved.
Encourage your student to take advantage of these opportunities—they’ll learn, grow, and have fun along the way!
If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to the club sponsors listed on the flier.
Thank you for supporting your student’s engagement at DMS!

The day will be this Friday, October 17. So, the rules for the day are:
Comfortable clothing can be worn
Hats can be worn
Blankets can be part of their attire
7 minute passing periods-each block will be 4 minutes shorter
Option to eat lunch outside on Monday October 20th

Important Update for CCSD1 Families
Beginning October 20, CCSD1 will transition to LiveSchool for our behavior tracking and rewards system.
After testing behavior tracking through Rooms, we found that the reporting features did not provide the level of clarity and detail needed by our teachers and families. LiveSchool offers a more robust and transparent system for tracking student behavior, while also allowing students to earn rewards for positive actions and choices.
This change will help strengthen communication between school and home and support a positive learning environment for all students.
LiveSchool access codes and setup instructions will be distributed to families by classroom teachers to assist with account setup and ensure a smooth transition.
Thank you for your continued support!

We invite all DMS families to join us for Parent-Teacher Conferences on Wednesday, October 29 from 4:00–7:00 PM.
Families are welcome to drop in anytime during this window to connect with teachers. Conferences will be held on a first-come, first-served basis, and to ensure everyone has a chance to meet with teachers, each family will have a maximum of 5 minutes per teacher.
To make the most of your visit, please come prepared with your student’s class schedule so you know which teachers to meet with. You can find this information on PowerSchool or the CCSD1 app.
Converse County Public Health will be offering vaccines and immunizations in the DMS Nurse’s Office for any family wishing to take advantage of this convenient service.
Be sure to stop by the Commons Area for valuable family resources and information from:
PAC (Parent Advisory Council)
Gear Up
School Resource Officer (SRO) – Safety Info
DMS Clubs & Activities
DMS Spirit Wear Store
Parenting Early Adolescents – helpful tips and resources for supporting your middle schooler
We look forward to seeing you and partnering together to support your student’s success in a welcoming and engaging environment!
